PANZ Newell Award 2019

Congratulations to Moana Rarere for winning the inaugural PANZ Newell Award as well as the People’s Choice Award for best poster at the 2019 NZ Population Conference.

The PANZ Newell Award is awarded by the Population Association of New Zealand for the best poster on a population topic relating to the NZ Population Conference theme, which in 2019 was Population change in Aotearoa New Zealand: people, places and well-being.

The competition is open to all current honours-level and above tertiary students in New Zealand, and is awarded at the biennial NZ Population Conference.

Winners receive:

  • $500 from PANZ
  • conference travel and registration courtesy of PANZ
  • two year’s free membership to the Association

The most popular poster presented during the conference, as voted by conference delegates, wins the people’s choice award, which is a $250 cash prize
