The PANZ Newell Award is awarded by the Population Association of New Zealand for the best poster on a population topic relating to the NZ Population Conference theme, which in 2019 was Population change in Aotearoa New Zealand: people, places and well-being.

The competition is open to all current honours-level and above tertiary students in New Zealand, and is awarded at the biennial NZ Population Conference.

Winners receive:

    • $500 from PANZ
    • conference travel and registration courtesy of PANZ
    • two year’s free membership to the Association

The most popular poster presented during the conference, as voted by conference delegates, wins the people’s choice award, which is a $250 cash prize
